Bridge Kids International Receives $450,000 in Federal Funding for Our Place at Ben Washer Park
Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) secured $450,000 in Community Project Funding for Our Place at Ben Washer Park. It was part of $12,179,031 in federal funding for Louisville and Jefferson County that was included in a package of six government funding bills passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden. Since taking office, Congressman McGarvey has secured over half a billion dollars in federal funding for Kentucky’s Third Congressional District.
BKI Executive Director Stacy Bailey-Ndiaye is excited about the investment. “The funding is a gamechanger for BKI’s Our Place at Ben Washer Park project. It will allow us to complete the building debt-free. The project has been a 10-year labor of love and we have been blessed with a wide range of community support. Having federal dollars added to the mix comes at the perfect moment, as building costs increased significantly. We are so grateful to Congressman McGarvey for being a champion for Our Place!”
“Louisville deserves federal investments, and every day since taking office, I’ve been listening to Louisvillians so we can address our community’s most pressing needs. While it hasn’t been easy as a freshman in the minority, I worked with the Republican majority to bring back $12 million for local projects that will have an incredible impact on our city,” said Rep. McGarvey. “This money will upgrade the streets we all drive on, support economic development, help kids in our neighborhoods, and improve public safety.”
“This is incredible news for our city as these investments are key to our efforts in reducing violence, building safer streets, boosting infrastructure, enhancing parks and so much more,” said Mayor Craig Greenberg. “I am grateful to Congressman McGarvey for securing more than $10 million in funding for projects my administration requested that will help us create a safer, stronger and healthier Louisville for generations to come. I’m excited to see these initiatives come to life and look forward to continuing this great local-federal partnership with Congressman McGarvey for years to come.”
Bridge Kids International is looking forward to opening Our Place at Ben Washer Park in June 2024. Learn more about other local projects funded.
